Hi. I'd like to share my experience with the JJ trial home version, so far. I do like the software, and I am considering purchasing it, but I have been running into multiple issues:

1) I have scanned in my music collection from my media server via a mapped network drive on my PC. All the music shows up, but some albums appear twice or are broken into several albums due to multiple artists listed for certain tracks. Also, some albums are showing up in the compilation section instead of under the artist. These albums are listed under that particular artist in my file system.

2) Frequently, the music will not play. I set up the request list, hit play, and the now playing shows the track, but will not play. I hit the skip track, and it will skip to the next track, but will not play anything. This has been happening about 50% of the time. I restart the program and the same issue exists.

3) The program frequently crashes. When trying to move a track around in the request list, the program freezes and eventually crashes. This also happens when trying to skip or play tracks when they will not play as mentioned in problem #2 above.

Again, I like the idea of the jukebox software, but I am hesitant to purchase seeing all these issues come up right off the bat. I am running the software on Windows 7 Home Premium OS. My PC has plenty of power to run the software. Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi dejicank,

I guess I'll just try to address each of your points.

1) This is a common issue and typically means that your tagging doesn't quite conform to JJ's rules for determining what is an album and what tracks are on it. Even subtle differences will cause this to happen. Albums are determined as being compilations if they contain tracks tagged with different artists. It tries to be smart and detect feat, vs, featuring etc, but that all relies on the main artist being the first part of the artist tag. You mention your file system, but unless you tell JJ to explictly use the file masks then it will always read the tags, so being in the same folder doesn't guarantee the same album in JJ. If you are completely stuck I would be happy to take a look at your data file. I can load them and see what you are seeing and let you know why JJ is behaving the way it is.

2) This sounds like you may have a file format or 2 that JJ doesn't support. In particular m4a is the first file format that I can think of. Are any of your files m4a's? (ie from iTunes default setting)

3) We have been told of a bug in the request list that shows up when using the auto play on add to request list function. I have identified the cause and will have an update shortly. The problem is related to the way the request list shows itself on the screen, it's possible that this may be related because moving things around and skipping tracks would make it update multiple times in a short period of time.

Thank you for the quick reply. I appreciate it. I guess I may need to clean up my tags a little to work well with JJ. Most of the file formats I use are either WMA or MP3. I don't really use iTunes or m4a. I'm glad that there is a fix for the crashing issue. I'll keep playing around with it to see if anything improves.
