Hello Chris,

OK, the genres view that's being distributed is different than the one we used to have. That one is using buttons and the one that I've attached is using the scroll bars. I think what we will do is rename the current view "Genres2" and keep Genres1 in the default installer. Sorry for the confusion.

I am testing Pro Version - Beta and have the same scrunching of genres. Is there a fix or do I need to load the non-beta version?

Hi DJ Dean,

Just download the attachment from Jay's post and extract view_Genre1.txt into the Views folder over the top of the one that is already in there.

Hello DJ Dean,

The answer to your question is that no it's not a software bug. It is a configuration issue inside of the view file itself. I'm just having a hard time identifying what needs to be changed in the views. What view exactly are you looking at? I'm looking at view_DecadeGenre1.txt. The following is the section that needs to be changed from "button" formatting to "list" formatting with scroll bars. Not sure what the trick is. Tony?

[Genres]
Next=Tracks
Caption='Select a Genre...'
Centered=1
AutoSelect=1
Size=Explicit, 200
Alignment=Left
Layout=Vertical
Rows=AutoFit
ItemSize=Auto
FrameItems=1
AutoHideScrollButtons=true

Jay and I must have worked on our responses at the same time!

The offending lines are Rows=AutoFit and ItemSize=Auto.

I can only assume that I changed these at some point to assist another customer, but did it on the original rather than on a copy. The views are highly configurable and they can be tweaked to suit your requirements. I know that some customers are very specific about the number of genres that they use because if they use too many then their customers get confused too (having 5 different kinds of rock genres isn't going to be that helpful for someone that doesn't know your collection). So if you've only got 10 genres then using the button look is great.

Anyway, for trial purposes the default shouldn't really take this into consideration and it should allow for infinite genres and I have attached an updated version of the Decade/Genres view that matches the Genres one that Jay has uploaded above. Simply download and extract the txt file into your views folder.
