Jukebox Jockey is a feature-rich application with goals to become even better as time goes on. Please use this forum to ask for features you wish to see. You may not always receive a response to posts in this category, but they will always be viewed and analyzed for feasibility.

TO ASK FOR A NEW VIEW:
Please include as much detail as possible about how your view should work. What information should it sort and from what fields? How should the view be organized in terms of columns and rows? Please look at our existing views to see if there is something similar to what you need. Take a look at the existing designs to describe what functions your view should have (For example, Buttons, lists, album art, sliding album page, etc). Then describe how that view should be changed to fit your needs. The more information as to how your media is setup and how the new view should display that media the better.

This weekend during a rental JJ crash. It started by only playing the audio but not displaying any video (karaoke cdj). A few minutes after that it completely froze, non responsive (audio playlist still playing). It was like this for at least 15 minutes before I got there. A quick restart fixed the problem.

I think it would be very useful where if the program hangs it auto restarts itself. I know that Jay is familiar with Virtual DJ Pro. Virtual DJ has this feature.

Thanks,

Hi Israel,

My understanding of how this would work would be that I would need another application that runs and basically performs some kind of checks to see if JJ is still running. JJ could either be send out messages every few seconds for this application to watch for or the application could ask JJ questions and expect an answer. Either way, it's likely that we could only detect if JJ is completely frozen or has in fact crashed and closed down. I suspect that in the first part of your scenario above, JJ would likely have still been alive enough to send or respond to messages, so in that case we wouldn't have detected a crash in those first few minutes.

I am currently working on a "shell" application. Which is intended to do a number of things:

- run at startup or as the Windows shell and display a menu system
- auto start an application (ie JJ)
- be able to display its own "Task Manager" capable of killing off only the applications that it launches itself (password protected too, in the same way as JJ's functions can be). The task manager can be displayed by dragging a finger from the top left to the bottom left of the screen
- monitor JJ and restart it if it crashes (Crash Recovery)

So this is already in the works, but I don't have a timeline for release.

Hello Tony,

I already have most of these features integrated into my system via a series of third party software. It's going to be great when they are all integrated to JJ!

As you described the software I'm using cannot detect if JJ hangs only if its not running. Killing the app if it detects a major error or a hang would be perfect.

When Virtual DJ detects an issue you instantly get a pop up with a recovery button. When the recovery button is clicked the app instantly shuts down and restarts. Your media usually continues to play until you recover.

Thanks
