Hi

I have got one pc just as i like it (my test pc) then i have copied over the whole JJ dir to my pc with my touch screen on, then i have amended the file locations and recanned my whole collection, the problem i have now is that the two pcs are not the same, on my karaoke collection nothing is displayed except one dir, on my films on my test pc using the folder button i get the folder, then i get the sub folder, then i get the file, on my main pc the folder is missing in the first colum, it dipslays the sub folder, thus the second colum is empty and if i click at the top of the second folder my file then appears in the 3rd colum,i have uninstalled the program and reinstalled it and set back up as per my test pc, then re scanned again and it is the same as before removing the program, i have set all the sttings the same as my test pc but still they are a million miles apart from each other with the views, i do not understand why, would you have any idea on this please.

Alsois it possibleto have a folder button that just diplays the directory on the 1syt colum, then the contents of the dir in the second colum, as alot of stuff i have does nto have sub dir.

In anticipation of a reply, Many Thanks

Alan

Hi Alan999,

The folders view (view_Explore1.txt in the views folder) really needs to be tailored to suit your configuration. It's really only a "half baked" view definition and maybe it shouldn't have made it's way into the release. Not that it's broken it's just not as straight forward as other views. It's not a true file explorer, it is not dynamic, it still requires you to scan your media (as you have done) and then builds a view based on hard coded definitions in the view file.

I have a folder structure of:

E:\Media\Mp3s\[1st letter of Artist]\Artist\Album\Tracks.mp3

So for me to display an Artists/Albums structure using the folder view it has to use levels 4 and 5 of the structure. On my laptop it's levels 6 and 7!

Anyway, I have attached a new view file (it will be "Folders 2" inside JJ). It simply defines one folder level followed by tracks. In it the level is "7" so you will have to adjust it to suit your configuration. The number 7 appears in 3 different places. Unzip the file and save it to the Views\Default folder then edit it with a text editor (eg notepad).

Note that if all you really want is a flat list of albums though, then there are probably views that are better suited to this.

Thanks Tony i will give that a try, i did actually figure it out in the end about the levels and did sort out my collection, it is very strange that on one pc certain levels are used and on other pcs other levels are used, i just dropped the collection into another couple of folders making them deeper and all appeared fine, it was frustrating though at the time, but at least once you are aware of this its easy to fix, only problem will be with a back up pc if that reads the directory structure different and the music is stored on the same external HDD, i do like the folder button though i think its very handy, an explorer button that reads a dir and sub directorys would be very handy though, then no more scanning on certain items would be needed and if it displayed the file name that would be good too as i am sure i am not alone with files that are not picked up / listed with a name due to bad tagging (not your softwware), but a file explorer would be very good indeed.

Also changing the subject i have one last question, is it possible say on the music folder, to display the front cover when viewing albums, and then when clicking on the album to view tracks, instead of showing the front cover again if the back cover was in the dir, make it show that, then for albums that have not got file names just track names the track listing could be viewed on the back cover, i have seen this before on jukeboxes when i was on holiday and though it was a good idea.

Many thanks for you help, it is much appreciated

Alan
