How to Disable Sounds Effects in Windows

There are two different settings you may need to change in order to make sure Windows doesn't play miscelanious sounds during operation of your digital jukebox. This tutorial also shows you how to keep Internet Explorer from making clicking sounds when refreshing the home page.

Disabling Windows Sound Effects in Windows XP:

  1. Click Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices
  2. Click the Sounds tab
  3. Change the Windows Theme to "No Sounds"
  4. Scroll down the list under Program Events. Under the Windows Explorer section, highlight Start Navigation.
  5. Under the Sounds box, select (None) > OK, close Control Panel

  1. Click Start > Control Panel > Sound
  2. Click the Sounds tab
  3. Change the Windows Theme to "No Sounds"
  4. Scroll down the list under Program. Under the Windows Explorer section, highlight Start Navigation.
  5. Under the Sounds box, select (None) > OK, close Control Panel
