Menu Buttons

Adding Buttons

In a default installation of Jukebox Jockey, there is a button called "View Tester". This button will show you all of the currently available views. Use this view tester to determine how you would like to browse your media. There are a few ways you can then add those buttons to a menu. But here is a workflow that we've designed to make it easy.

  1. Use the view tester to identify what views you want.
  2. Once you've found a view you like, choose "Define Button". This will add the button to the Menu Button Builder.
  3. Choose "Menu Builder". This shortcut will open up Jukebox Jockey's Settings>Menu>Menu Builder.
  4. Choose the menu collection you wish to add the button to (Music, Video, Karaoke, Etc).
  5. Find the button in the left side, move it to the right.

Adding and Removing Buttons To Menu Collections

You can add and remove buttons from menu collections (Music, Video, Karaoke, Etc).

  1. Go to Jukebox Jockey's Settings>Menu>Menu Builder.
  2. Choose the menu collection you wish to edit (Music, Video, Karaoke, Etc).
  3. Buttons on the right are included in the menu. Buttons on the left are available to be added. Add and remove as you choose.

Deleting Buttons From All Menu Collections

You can remove buttons from the Menu Button Builder completely. This will free up space in your Menu Builder to remove/hide the buttons you know you don't want. You can always re-add the buttons by instructions on "Adding Buttons".

  1. Identify the buttons you don't want anymore.
  2. Go to Jukebox Jockey's Settings>Menu>Menu Button Builder.
  3. Find the button you no longer with to use in your menus, and choose Delete.

Renaming Buttons

You can rename buttons to suit your needs.

  1. Go to Jukebox Jockey's Settings>Menu>Menu Button Builder.
  2. Find the button you wish to edit.
  3. Choose "Set Caption" and then rename your button.

More About Buttons

  • Set Caption: The caption of a button is displayed in the menu just below the icon. Use this button to change the caption.
  • Rename: Although not required for most purposes, this button allows you to rename the button from it's default name. This name is not displayed inside the software for any reason. Note, you must be sure each button has a unique name.
  • Set Icon: Provides the ability to change the icon of a particular button.
  • Set View/Action: Provides the ability to change the defined view for a particular button.
  • Set Variables: Provides the ability to edit the variables for a particular button. Variables are used to tell the defined view to behave in a certain way. For example, some playlist views have a variable called "Allexpanded". When set to "0", the tree will be collapsed. When set to "1", the tree will be expanded by default. Other variables provide additional options. Please check the views to learn more about their assigned variables and functions.
  • Always Reset: When checked, whenever the selected button is selected in the menu, it will be reset to it's opening state. Otherwise, Jukebox Jockey will remember it's previous state.
  • Is Favorite: When checked, the button will become a favorite for use inside of the Menu Builder.

Menu Configuration

Adding/Removing Menus

You can have more than one menu in your system so that you can easily change between specific menu systems for specific purposes. Among other purposes, this is useful to create different menus to limit/deny access to particular collections. For example, you can quickly enable/disable the karaoke collection using this method. Each menu can be assigned to be active at start-up, or simply made active temporarily You can activate/deactivate menus in Jukebox Jockey's Settings>Menu>Menu Selector.

  1. Go to Jukebox Jockey's Settings>Menu>Menu Builder.
  2. Choose "New Menu"
  3. Name your new menu.
  4. Jukebox Jockey will automatically select this new menu and you can begin creating/editing your new menu.

Adding/Removing Menu Profiles

Each Menu will have a list of Menu Profiles. Jukebox Jockey's default menu contains the profiles labeled Music, Video, and Karaoke. You can add and remove menu profiles from your menu. This is helpful to hide profiles you aren't using, or to add profiles to the list. Each profile can point to a specific media collection. See Media for more information about Media Collections.

  1. Create a New Menu (instructions above).
  2. In the Profiles section of Jukebox Jockey's Settings>Menu>Menu Builder choose "Add".
  3. Name your profile.
  4. Choose "Set Collection".
  5. Choose the collection in which this profile should browse.
  6. Add buttons to your new profile (instructions above).
